In a voice message to his personal assistants, with soft R&B music playing in the background, Sean "Diddy" Combs requests, "Can you all come tidy things up here? It’s not looking upscale."

Earlier, a high-energy, drug-fueled gathering—referred to as a "freak-off" or "Wild King Night"—had been underway. Now, the cleanup crew was summoned to restore order.

Following another such occasion, his chief of staff sends a text: "PD needs urgent cleanup at the hotel. Bring stain remover for a chair and couch, black trash bags, and baking soda as he requested."

The BBC has obtained messages and recordings from former employees in Sean "Diddy" Combs' household, who have shared vivid insights into their experiences working on the music mogul's lavish yacht rentals and expansive properties across the U.S., including the Hamptons, Beverly Hills, and Star Island in Miami. These accounts cover a timeframe of five to ten years, a period closely examined during Combs' recent criminal trial in New York.

The trial concluded on Wednesday, with the 55-year-old being acquitted of the most severe charges—racketeering and two counts of sex trafficking involving his ex-partner Casandra Ventura and another woman known as "Jane." However, the jury convicted him on two lesser charges related to transporting both women for prostitution. A sentencing date for these convictions is yet to be determined.

We have been presented with evidence that portrays a "frightening" and erratic employer, known for enforcing unsettling "loyalty tests" and escalating his demands to increasingly outrageous levels.

Employees have recounted how his multi-day "freak-off" events took place across various global locations, with the rapper requiring staff to pack a bag including "baby oil, lubricant, and red lights"—intended to craft the crimson atmosphere Combs favored—along with class-A drugs wherever his travels led.

Within his lavish $48m (£36m) waterfront mansion on an exclusive man-made island in Miami, we’ve learned that Sean "Diddy" Combs maintained strict oversight of his inner circle.

In a disjointed voice note shared in an employee WhatsApp group in 2020, a weary Combs cautioned staff, "I'm not about to be open with y'all. There’s some dark places y'all [EXPLETIVE] don’t want to go. Stay where you're at."

Employees describe him as intense, demanding, and erratic, with some linking his unpredictability to a lifestyle fueled by drug-laden parties. The staff turnover was significant, with a former estates manager revealing that Combs cycled through more than 20 different house managers in just two years across his various properties

Phil Pines, a 40-year-old who served as a senior executive assistant to Sean "Diddy" Combs from 2019 to 2021, shared with the BBC that the music mogul remained silent toward him when he began his role.

"It felt like an initiation," Phil explains. "We didn’t exchange a word for 30 days."

Another former assistant, referred to as Ethan (a pseudonym), recalls, "He was a deeply unwell individual with erratic behaviors—sometimes fiercely aggressive, other times unexpectedly kind."

We’ve altered Ethan’s name, as he, like many ex-employees, continues to work in the luxury hospitality sector and worries that speaking out about Combs could jeopardize his career.

Ethan points out a small scar on his forehead, attributing it to an incident where Combs, in a burst of anger, smashed a glass against a wall, with the shards injuring Ethan’s face.

Both Phil Pines and Ethan were part of Combs’ tight-knit team of trusted assistants and claim he frequently engaged in psychological games with his staff.

Ethan recounts one of Sean "Diddy" Combs' loyalty tests, where the star removed one of his rings and tossed it into the Atlantic Ocean. Turning to Ethan, Combs instructed him to retrieve it from the water.

This occurred during a formal event, with both dressed in sharp suits. Undeterred, Ethan says he immediately leapt into the sea to recover the ring.

In a separate instance, Phil Pines describes being summoned to Combs' residence past midnight, tasked with retrieving the TV remote from beneath the bed where Combs was with a female guest.

"See? He’s loyal and now he can head back home," Pines recalls Combs saying to her. He admits feeling degraded, likening the experience to being treated like an animal.

Combs' chief of staff Kristina Khorram helped organise the "Wild King Nights", says Pines

However, the Wild King Nights—termed as such by Sean "Diddy" Combs' chief of staff, Kristina Khorram—unveiled a far more troubling aspect of working for the music mogul.

"I was tasked with arranging an extensive list of items for him," Phil Pines explains. "And I couldn’t help but wonder why no one had briefed me about this beforehand."

In one message reviewed by the BBC, Khorram texted Pines to alert him that a bag needed to be ready for a Wild King Night within two hours. In another instance, she requested a "drop off" consisting of seven bottles of baby oil, seven bottles of Astroglide lubricant, and iced vanilla lattes.Read more>>
