The
user said she had always discouraged parents from checking their children’s phones, yet she made an exception this time.She sneaked into her young son’s WhatsApp chats to see his conversation with a female friend.
"In as much as I don’t encourage this, I’m so proud of him for knowing how much he can do," she said.
She also shared a screen recording of the conversation between her 12-year-old son and his new female friend.
According to the screenshot, the chat took place in the afternoon, as seen in the timestamp.
It was Staphost’s son who initiated the conversation, respectfully greeting his friend before introducing himself.
He explained where he got her number, mentioning the person who had connected them.
"My name is Sanchez, but my friends call me Chez," he wrote smoothly as he engaged the girl.
He asked her name, and the classmate replied, "My name is Amaka," to which Sanchez responded, "Nice to meet you."
He quickly got to the point, telling Amaka why he had reached out.
"I like you and I would like us to be friends," he said directly, adding a humorous condition to their friendship:
"I hope you are not materialistic because I am a student and I live off my mum’s pocket."
Amaka responded with three laughing emojis before saying, "Ok. I am not oo."
